CA FAQ

Who is Crumbling Arches?

Ian Hennessee (bass) - Alex McKelvey (guitar/vocals) - Brian McGaw (guitar/vocals) - Zachary Hennessee (drums)

As a group we began at a time where forming a band neither required instruments or abilities to play them. After all the members were on board, a birthday party, a crappy venue, and a year of high school, we started to take it a little more seriously and now Crumbling Arches has blossomed into a full songwriting tree which has graced many a venue in the southeast and beyond, as well as pulled off substantial feats such as gracing the warped tour 2 years in a row, getting college and mainstream radio airplay, and placing top 40 of more than 2000 in an international band competition called Emergenza. We now spend our time in recording for our first full length while continuing to giggify off the wazoo and dip out toes into the college world.

How old are you guys?

18 and 19.

Do you guys have a CD or something?

We have two rather old recordings we dont really sell anymore named 'Poo Poo Platter' and 'Cambodian Visa' respectively. We currents sell our newest 3 song EP 'Captain Holmes and the Whale of Time' at shows and online, and on certain occasions will make available a live cd we which we dubb 'CA Live @ Earthlink.'

What genre are you guys?

We like to call ourselves Alternative. Not because we think we're the most 'out there' band in the world, but because that genre gives us the most ground for doing whatever we want to do. If we feel like putting a samba or a waltz in a song then so be it. That freedom is what we're all about. What really is "alternative" an alternative to?

What are your influences?

Each of our interests is really broad, and in a lot of situations are very different from those of the other band members. Most of us are big on 90's "alternative" artists like our lady peace, bush, modest mouse, and alvin and the chipmunks. Alex and Brian really like glassjaw, radiohead, muse, and the mars volta while Ian and Zachary really like rage against the machine, sister hazel, and artists like rockafella. Sometimes we listen to theatre music like phantom of the opera, other times we chill to the likes of pinback and the beatles, and other times listen to harder music like thrice or incubus.

Will you guys play my party?

Probably not unless there are going to be a ton of people there and / or we are offered the right price. Considering we would have to bring a PA (and trust me, our PA sucks) and considering that we would have to move our equipment over there it just generally turns out to be too much work.

Do you really have a fro? (to ian and zachary)

If by fro you mean big curly hair then yes... yes they do. If by fro you mean a million dollars worth of Pakistani grilled steaks... then no.
